about

I think most people in this area associate me with rollicking house parties and hoedowns but I love playing all kinds of fiddle music. Here is a short selection of tunes in a more meditative style, intended for the work I do playing for wedding ceremonies. I'm kind of a sucker for weddings, I remember trying madly to quit crying while playing music for my cousin's wedding -- it's easy to get swept up in the moment when you're providing the backdrop for a one of life's most dramatic milestones. The music I like to play for a wedding ceremony reflects my long time involvement in Irish music as well as the music of our region here in the Southern Appalachians. Here are 14 tunes that cover a wide spectrum of solemn and celebratory, ranging from compositions by the old Irish harper Turlough O'Carolan to early English country dances to pretty southern breakdowns slowed just enough to make that walk down the aisle bright and sparkling.
