about

An evening's entertainment with the Penny Dreadfuls!

Stirring, Scintillating Music from the Southern Appalachians...

The dandelion pictured on the cover of this album is all primed to release its gauzy wind-borne seeds, and so, too, this album is infectious -- primed to release a bounty of over-looked American music far and wide. Most of the tunes here are a century old (at least) and they run the gamut from solo fiddling to a full-blown quadrille orchestra. Ian Moore sings, and plays all the instruments: fiddle, banjolin, kazoo plus various kitchen utensils.

Jump around the room to a jugband stomp!
Be dazzled by blazing quick, fiddle madness!
Thrill to a tale of divine retribution!
Or shudder to hear the song of a woeful train wreck!
All this, plus many other antique crowd pleasers!
